I was born in
1975 in Heraklion, the largest city on the island of
Crete, in
Greece. Crete is a wonderful island,
of tremendous historical heritage, unparallel beauty, and I am so proud
of it! As a kid, I remember myself always being in trouble. I confess
I was a big menace, and I am only worried that pay-back time will come
some day.My school years were filled with more fun than work, and in 1992 I graduated from the Kapetanakeio High School. In the same year I passed the entry examinations for the university, so I moved to Athens where I stayed for one semester, attending classes at the Mathematics Department of the University of Athens. I figured Athens was not as much fun for the notorious, long-awaited "college life", so I decided to move back to Crete. In 1997 I received my B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the University of Crete. In the meantime, I had the chance to meet many nice people, and still very good friends of mine, and did lots of crazy things that I do not find appropriate to mention here :-)
So, 1997 came, officially then my college life was over, and it was expected that I got more serious about life... (or... maybe not ?). Before deciding to be more of an adult, I did the craziest thing in my life... I came to Minnesota (don't tell anyone, but it takes much insanity to leave Greece and go to Minnesota!). Well, here I am now, a Ph.D. student at the Computer Science Department of the University of Minnesota, in the Scientific Computation Program, trying to persuade myself that snow can actually be fun...

Several pictures/postcards from Greece!
Last, but not least, my photo album.
