Quote

The heights by great men reached and kept were not obtained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Welcome

After years of procrastinating I've finally managed to carve out a modest space in the Metaverse. Feel free to poke around, drop me a line or set your browser to block this site. For anyone who just stumbled in, if you are familiar with Donald Knuth, Alan Booth, Flannery O'Connor, Jeffrey Lebowski or Phil Lesh, you may find points of interest here. Either way, fare thee well.

mood image For anyone still reading let me define my site by what it's not. I can't conjure up enough insight to fill a blog. I don't have goods or services to sell. I don't have photo albums to share. I'm a technophile but I don't game, Twitter, Second Life or Facebook so you won't find me dispensing advice on those. I suppose I'm aiming for a simple place to aggregate information about things I like. If someone else enjoys it so much the better.

This is a bit forced but I had to find somewhere to slip it in. I know for many it has been over-quoted to the point of impactlessness but it has never lost its appeal to me. I don't think a winter passes where I don't conjure up this scene during a late-day hike in the woods.

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
snowy image He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Robert Frost, 1923
