A weekly seminar series is being organized by the newly formed Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (CBCB). The main objective of these weekly meetings will be to create a community of researchers from different disciplines that have related interests. Resulting cross-disciplinary interactions will hopefully lead to research advances that will not be possible otherwise. The preliminary plan is that each meeting (about 1 to 2 hours) will have internal or external speakers as well as plenty of time for interactions. Several of the meetings will be reserved for short (10-15 minutes) talks by the participating researchers so that their research gets introduced to attendees from other disciplines. Some of the meetings will be used for targeted tutorials as well as hour-long seminars by leading researchers from outside the University.
If you would like to add someone else to our mailing list (or would like to be removed from the list), please send a note to cbcb-staff@cs.umn.edu.
Talks are currently being scheduled for the spring semester. A number of
speakers have been scheduled or are in the process of being scheduled, but suggestions for additional speakers and topics are welcome.
Send any recommendations for speakers or topics to
cbcb-staff@cs.umn.edu.
