Arcade:

The Primary portion of Star Strike is an arcade where hand-eye coordination and reflexes are key. Controls are a simple and keyboard driven. The action is fast, and most combats last only a couple of minutes. The primary goal is to destroy your opponents using a variety of weapons that includes lasers, guns, missles, and special attacks.

The game can be played by either a single player, or up to four players networked together. Each player may have one or more ships on his side, with one under his/her direct control, and the rest of that players controlled by the computer. If his primary ship is destroyed, the player may then take control of another of his/her fleet's ships.

Strategy:

Victory in Star Strike also depends on quick thinking in the combat and forethought with ship-building. Before combat, the player has the option of custom building a ship by selecting from a large variety of hulls, weapons, shields, engines, etc. By selecting a powerful combination of these, the odds of victory can be significantly increased before combat even starts.

Even after combat starts, smart management of your ship's resources is a must for victory.

Interface

The ship building interface is a simple, linear process of buying each of the components for your ship from a set amount of money (which is fully customizable by the game's server). A description of each component is available when it is selected, and ship designs can be saved for later use.

Once all player's fleets is built, the arcade portion begins. The battlefield may be viewed from either top-down or chase views. Control is done with keyboard controls that may be reconfigured to suit each player's needs.
