Keyboard
Controls:
e: Force screen refresh (usually does nothing)
8: Decrement Z axis (draw the next point
further into the screen)
2: Increment Z axis (draw the next point
closer to the viewer)
w: Switch between
WireFrame mode and back
n: Force draw new polygon (changes from drawing current polygon to a new
one)
Mouse
Controls:
Left Click in Draw Window:
draws point at the current mouse position
Right Click in Draw
Window: erases last drawn point
Using
GLUI Control Notes:
Spinners (boxes with
arrows beside them) can be altered by clicking the arrows,
or clicking and holding
down on the arrows while sliding the mouse up or down.
Holding down the ctrl key
while dragging the spinners or translation controls
causes the control to
alter much more slowly
GLUI
Controls (in order of appearance):
Quit: Closes all
windows and loose any unsaved work
File Name: Enter the desired
save/load filename here, does
nothing until one of
those buttons is clicked
Save/Load Model: Saves
a model on screen to file, or loads from file to screen
Draw/View Mode: In Draw mode when checked,
otherwise view mode
Draw
mode makes the view so the point clicked by the mouse
corresponds to the
point drawn on the image
View mode makes it so
the model can be easily rotated or translated
WireFrame Mode: Switches
between Wireframe and Solid draw modes
(see tutorial for
further explanation)
X/Y/Z coordinates: Allows exact points to draw to be
entered in rather than by mouse click
- works equally well in either draw or view
modes
Draw Point: Draws a point at the
current X/Y/Z coordinates
Erase Point: Erases the last drawn
point (same as right mouse click)
Start New Polygon: Force draw new polygon (same as keyboard 'n')
Triangles/Quads/Strips: Alters the
kind of polygon being drawn (see tutorial for
further information)
Texture Number: The
number of the texture to be applied to the current
polygon (currently
only 0 or 1 actually apply a texture)
R/G/B: The
red/green/blue color to be applied to the current polygon
Alpha: Alpha value for the current
polygon (for advanced users)
Shinyness: Controls the polygon's
specular exponent value
(should generally be
left alone, unless you are an
advanced user)
Make Polygon Emissive: Makes the polygon's color unaffected by outside
lighting
Change current polygon:Changes the currently active polygon, allowing you to
make changes to
previous polygons
Polygon Outline
Visibility:Makes the purple line
around the current polygon
thicker/thinner
Transformation
controls: Allows you to move the viewpoint around the model,
best if used in view
mode (see tutorial for further
explanation)
Light Controls: Allows you to move the lighting in
the scene:
light source appears
as a small white sphere - best
if used in view mode
Run System Tests: Runs tests on your system and outputs
the results
in the MS-Dos window
