I am a graduate student at the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering, University of Minnesota. I am now working with
Prof. Yousef Saad on numerical linear algebra and data mining
applications. Previously I worked on computer graphics and was involved in the
3D range scanning project.
I have also been a teaching assistant for many undergrad and graduate level courses.
I graduated from a math bachelor major, which I treasure most. It acquaints me a solid background to
understand the underlying math in a lot of advanced science and techonology. Computer science heavily relies
on mathematics, such as probability and statistics in machine learning, geometry in graphics, sets and logic
in languages, number theory in security, matrix and PDEs in scientific computation, and algebra in everywhere.
I believe in math more than anything else.
I am a TEXfan. By fan, it does
not only mean proficient skills, but love and passion. It is a perfect system for typography. It means
for everyone's word processing needs. It is not WYSIWYG now, but it has the potential to be more user
friendly in the future. Its spirit of focusing people on contents rather than layouts wins its honor.
Implementations of TeX are developing endlessly.
LaTeX3 is on the way now.
