I am a PhD candidate in the Department
of Computer Science
and Engineering, University
of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I work
in Prof.
Vipin
Kumar's group in the fields of data mining and
bioinformatics. Specifically, my research focuses on extracting under-utilized information in large-scale genomic data sets and the supporting knowledgebases to enhance the
performance of protein function prediction algorithms.
More details of my work can be found in my publications. Also check
out a recent review article that I have written on this
topic, which is being currently expanded into a book that will be
published by Wiley & Sons in their Book Series on Bioinformatics
in late Fall 2009 (expected). Other details about my experience, short descriptions of the major projects I have undertaken
and professional services can be found in my resume linked on the left.
I am currently looking for post-doctoral positions in computationally-oriented systems biology, regulatory genomics, cancer genomics and other related fields. Please drop a note at gaurav@cs.umn.edu if you or any of your colleagues may be interested in recruiting me.
Before joining UMN, I graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree
from the Department
of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian
Institute of Technology,
Kanpur, India.
