I am a PhD student (09/2007-) of Computer Science at University of Minnesota. I work with Prof. Vipin Kumar and Dr. Michael Steinbach on data mining for biomedical informatics.  I also work with Prof. Rui Kuang and Prof. Chad L. Myers on functional genomics and systems biology.

My research work is motivated to help in the understanding of human diseases through the analysis of one or multiple of the following data: 

• gene expression, SNP, protein-protein interaction, metabolite, fMRI and healthcare data

with focus on addressing the computational and statistical challenges due to one or multiple of the following issues:

• combinatorial search
• heterogeneity of sample population and disease causes
• low sample size wrt high-dimensionality
• partial and complementary view from different types and sources of data

I worked on pattern recognition with Prof. Sargur Srihari and got my M.S. in Computer Science from State University of New York at Buffalo, May 2007. I did my undergraduate (B.Sc. in Computer Science) at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, May 2005.
