The result for the throughput test on the SGI Challenge is shown in
Figure
. The other architectures have similar results
for all three algorithms. Note that the time per sequence with 24
simultaneous sequences being processed is nearly identical to the time
for a single sequence.

The results for the response time test on the three SMP platforms is
shown in Figure
. Each point is plotted along with its
confidence interval. Other sequence lengths have similar response
time curves. Note that at the sequence length of 9202 bases, BLASTX
took nearly 1.3 hours to complete on a single processor on the Cray
CS6400. With 24 processors, it took a mere 3.5 minutes.
