Cinque Terre

(other 4 villages)

Riomaggiore, the most eastern village, has a wondeful harbor and the steepest main street.

Manarola is the 2nd most eastern village of the five.  It had a beautiful harbor that is much narrower than Vernazza.

I was in Manarola at sunset, and I thought about staying there for the rest of my life.

Manarola's protective harbor requires a cable system to rise and lower the fishing boats.

Corniglia is the only village that doesn't have a harbor, but can be reached by walking up some significant number of steps near the train station.  I hiked there from Vernazza.

Monterosso al Mare has a long beach, and probably the most touristy of all of the five villages, but it has an amazingly clear and beautiful seafront.  Look at the color of that water!
