why don’t you people tell me these things?

I’ve had rss on my site since the beginning, and only LAST night does D tell me that my feed looks like wordpress barfed into google reader? You’re not using google reader? How do you expect google to infer all your preferences and purchasing tendencies without a complete electronic profile of everything you read or have an interest in reading?

Naomi Wolf, my hero

If you want to see one of the authors of the patriot act get his intellect regulated by Naomi Wolf, you can click here. If I find a version that doesn’t require the worst media player short of totem, I’ll post it too.

Edit: And what better format than text? Ok, so it’s not actually the interview, but it’s the same good point. Thanks again to C for pointing something out.

Tennessee Williams

As I was walking on the wet concrete the other day, I passed a small crowd. They were gathered around a somewhat disheveled older man seated on some concrete steps. He had several scrapes on his face, and looked pretty disoriented. A cane rested on the railing off to his side. Someone was on a cell phone, and a someone else was dabbing his forehead.

The situation was under control, so I just smiled as I passed. It was one of those rare moments when the fact that we are all in this together comes into sharp focus. A person needed help, and people did. They helped because they could relate–and it because it was the right thing to do.

The Kindness of Strangers.

Peace.

I never cease to amaze myself

No, it’s not because I’m awesome. It’s because every time I discover something about myself, or how I’ve been acting, or something simple I can do to be more cheerful, the thing seems so obvious. To wit: I’ve been spending too much time thinking about how bad I am at graduate school instead of working to become better.

Sideways

I saw sideways last weekend. Metacritic says it’s about several things, the most poignant being “the damnable persistence of loneliness”. Well, dear readers, I sincerely hope you’re not lonely. If you are, you should call, and I’ll attempt to make you feel more connected through laughter.

Links of the day: ripple. Make people’s lives better just by clicking. For reals.

I found ripple at the bottom of this heady and excellent site:
Random Vandal

Thanks to C for directing me there.

As the simpsons would say, funny, because it’s true:
Colbert and Stewart at the Emmys

Also: power, sans turbine

To be alive

Today is a great day to be alive. I know, because I still am. I’m telling everyone who will listen, because I managed to avoid that car on Snelling this morning. It was going fast enough that, had it hit me, I doubt I would have survived. I sang as much of the rest of the ride as I could muster, because I could. So, once again,

Peace and love to everyone.

To all the people who saw me walking to school today

Just because you can’t hear the music that I’m dancing to, it doesn’t mean I’m not still totally Fly.

Yeah, I once gave myself a concussion doing it…what have you done with your life?

Peace and love everyone.
