On mpr this morning: “The trees are beautiful, they give us shade, and oxygen, and we so often overlook them…they’re like public radio in that sense. If the trees came to us and asked for money, I, for one, would give it to them.”

Wow.

“As long as we accept the principle that religious faith must be respected simply because it is religious faith, it is hard to withhold respect from the faith of Osama bin Laden and the suicide bombers.” — Richard Dawkins

The Curse + hey look I’m a typical obnoxious blogger

We do live in interesting times. Barak Obama will run in 08, he will win, make Wes Clark his v.p. or at least secretary of state, and then will proceed to heal this country of the wounds we’ve been ignoring or festering for the past, ah, 40 years or so. We’re all going to move on, become better people, and live better lives.

And then China will take over the world economy after relinquishing its tendency for human rights violations.

J & S, you better believe me. It seemed like a dream two months ago, but it’s going to happen–I saw it on Meet the Press. I also saw that Mr. Obama will make a better president than I ever could, (deprecating)a fact that had escaped my laser-beam-like intelligence(/deprecating) until now.

In more local news, DAS and I prevented the apartment from converting itself entirely into filth, then performed car-maintenance and bought candy.

It was a good weekend. Oooh, and I also played magic with the doctor, R and my niece, losing lavishly to all three.

wider audience

Apparently people read this website, which is simultaneously surprising and comforting. Thanks, DRM, for letting me know. I’ll try to make the posts more universally understandable in the future–and you always have my email if you need clarification.

bandwidth

The upgrade didn’t work initially, but B climbed up in there and shook out the extra speed we needed.

Octwinter

What’s the point in looking out the window if it always looks the same? Indeed, what’s the point of even having windows? Nine days, and forty degrees later, it’s snowing in the MPLS. The “civillians”, as pop would say, have all but left the trails, leaving a handful of us as the guardians of efficient transportation.

Anyone reading this who does not work to eat, eat to live, live to ride and ride to work should consider the following:
You really can do it if you wear the right clothing.

In case you don’t have the time to follow that last link, let me quote their site:
“The hardest part is the first 100 yards.”

Sumtober

Currently, two things are taking place. First, it’s October. Second. October Second. Second, it’s 73 degrees, according to the trusty servus. Also, if you hamstring yourself, contact P. He’s got the medicine. Or, if don’t actually want to kill yourself in a marathon, contact P. He also has the hookups. Or, if you’re trying to feel better in general, contact P.

Wow, it’s nice out.
