command line radix sort ala GK

The whole lab was telling him it wouldn’t work, until he sat down and wrote this:

cat yourfile | sort -k2 -g | sort -s -k3

sweet.

edit: You have to run the sort on the columns in the reverse order you might expect.

A few more quotations

“I get terribly excited about articulate people.” - H. S.
“I’m not going if there isn’t a brown coat ceremony too.” - N.W., in response to learning of the pharmacy school’s white coat ceremony.

The first quotation doesn’t come across as well in text, but H was really, really emphatic about it.

In other news, P forgot that pool existed, and so had to get some last minute pool supplies. Must have been a good summer.

Dear Friend of Freedom
Thank you for reading my freedom website. Look around, read the freedom text, have some freedom fries, then go drive your freedom car. And never forget what freedom means while you try to figure out what the freedom I’m talking about.

The varsity, London and the moon

“This is a love song, from my sex cd.” — Jim Bianco, 8/22/06

D might be moving to London, which means I might get a dog.

“Dad wouldn’t go to bed, and P was yelling something about how I’m ugly or a loser, so I decided to moon him” — J

tall fatboy

It is very hard for me to understand that P has the same capacity as I did when I was the same age. If I recall correctly, I thought in much the same way as I do now, but with fewer influences on my analysis patterns. Weird.

In other news, the redwoods are, unfortunately, one of those things you have to actually see to believe. I used to think I could get a good feeling for any place in the world from pictures, but it turns out that’s false. Great. Also, I found myself thinking “wow, this place looks JUST like the forest moon of Endor”. What a geek.

waves

Found this on six of my hard drives, and liked it:

Sometimes I’ll listen to a song that I haven’t heard in a while, but that in the past I’ve
listened to quite a bit, and a wave of emotion will just hit me. And if I’m in the right
mood, which I like to think I usually am, I’ll pay attention and just let go of whatever
rock at the bottom of the lake I’m hanging onto and just let the waves carry me.

P thinks he’s funny

But he almost got everyone’s comment posting privileges revoked. Also, while minimalism is always spiraling towards endgame, I have actually added new things for ocular enjoyment on this here website. If that doesn’t elicit a comment from the old Jneroo, I don’t know what will.
