antibiotics

They’re a great thing, antibiotics. Wrecking up on all those little bacteria. However, I can see why they have to remind you several times to finish them off–I’ll be glad to be done with this nausea nonsense. Also, thanks to D for pulling me all the way in to school–it would have been a much harder ride without him.

unix is passive-agressive

You cannot execute a dos-formatted perl script under unix, under any conditions. Unix will tell you “command not found” but it’s lying. If it were more direct and truthful, it would tell you “I’m not dos, jackass. Don’t try to make me something I’m not or this relationship is over.”

Why do I suddenly feel like my last name is Blowen?

In other news a dog attempted to eat me but was unsuccessful.

My advice to my friends who bike, for what it’s worth:
1. You need to prepare yourself to make a split second decision and then act. The key will be following through once the decision is made.
Either: Get off—and this is important—get the bike between you and the dog. Or: engage legs. Do NOT assume the dog is friendly.
2. If you do get bit, call 911. Don’t think about it, don’t try to decide if you should, just call the number and try your best to stay calm.
3. If you get hit by a car, call 911. Don’t think about it, don’t try to decide if you should, just call the number and try your best to stay calm.
4. Don’t hesitate to call me & I’ll remind you to call 911 if you haven’t already.

There are a number of reasons for getting an officer on the scene. There really needs to be a report filed if you’re going to get compensated for the damage done to your bike, and it’s much, much safer for you to have an officer taking the address of the dog owner/driver.

Too bad it took me 4 years to understand all this.

Goodbye, Sylvina

I did not know you, but those close to me did.
100 years of life well-lived, and some genuine, good people to carry on.
I did not know you, but I think I should have liked to.

Will be off line until we can be assured that drunken rafting will not take place in the basement.

Should have posted this when I actually implemented the stuff, but thanks, D, for providing the photos code.
