these are a few of my favorite things…

I know my readers think all i do is clean Maybelline’s ears, ride my bike, WoW and eat (exclusively) salsa con queso con pretzels, but recently I’ve become smitten with spumoni. The ice cream in question belongs to the D, so it’s dangerous for me to admit this on publicly viewed media (such as my interblog). Suffice it to say i’m coming out of the closet.

In other news, I tore my bike in half with my bare hands the other day. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that aluminium is a strong frame material. Or that derailers don’t perform good hub lobotomies.

p.s. crap! my css igores uppercase.

news

In pondering why I continue to read the news, I realized today that it is out of hope. Hope and optimism that one day I’ll read the news and it will be at best exciting and at worst boring. Hope that someday everyone will realize that God does not want people to kill each other. Thus far I have been dissapointed every day, but I’m going to keep checking.

p.s. postitutes (you know who you are) where are you?

ice olympics

I was reluctant to post this initially, out of fear of those responsible for it, but now certain things have come to light that require me to share the following. One of the announcers for the Olympics–we’ll call him Bob for the sake of anonymity–is actually put into suspended animation (on ice, as it were) for the intervening non-olympic periods. If you don’t believe me, wait 80 years and see who’s announcing short-track.

birthday present

10 degrees, Park avenue, 7:10 A.M. Cabbie pulls out right into the bike lane, almost hitting me, then stops, then starts again, way too close to my back wheel, driving in the bike lane. I give him the look–he seems to be waving excitedly–then I think, “whatever” and keep going. He pulls up next to me slowly and now I’m thinking,”here comes trouble”. He has his window down and instead of cursing me out, I hear “I’m sorry sir….sorry” and he goes past me.

As bp would say, “That’s what I’m talking ’bout”

Edit:
On the way home that same day, someone pulled into an intersection blocking the bikepath near Hiawatha, and actually threw it into reverse to get out of my way. Unheard of.
