Should you need to find out, in a hurry, who your true friends are, I recommend you apply the following test to as many of them as possible.
Step 1:
Ride your bike through the winter to accumulate as much dirt as possible. Failing a ready supply of winter, purchase a 5 lb bag of potting dirt, spray your bike down with lube, and apply the dirt liberally.

Step 2:
Invite the targets over to help you clean the bike. Not their bikes, mind you, just your bike.

Step 3:
Ride the bike to school at your earliest convenience. If you find yourself looking down to parts of the bike you don’t remember cleaning, declare success.
