Dan as teacher
The big news is that I'm teaching
CSCI 4061, an operating systems course, this spring.
Below is some old stuff from when I taught at
James Madison University.
It's no longer current, but what the heck.
- I hate the last week of the semester, when grading is almost
all about points and almost nothing about learning. I especially
hate it when people beg for points after the final. Here's my current position
on that.
- A canonical syllabus.
This information applied to all classes I taught at JMU, and includes my
policies toward common situations and topics that occur.
- Educational philosophy leaks through into the canonical syllabus
mentioned above, but more explicit info
is available (though still under development).
That's it for now. Sometime I'm going to expand here, with more of
a philosophy of teaching, and some homilies about edcation, CS, etc.
