What is the SmartShopper?

SmartShopper is a PalmPilot application designed to help manage common shopping tasks, including keeping a list, budgeting, and basic shopping calculations such as unit prices and discounts.

Its primary purpose (besides to be a reasonably useful Palm application) is to serve as a vehicle for research, particularly in everyday/ubiquitous computing and in HCI. We've already got a poster accepted at the SIGCSE student research competition (held in Charlotte, NC, Feb. 22-23 2001) and are contemplating a larger paper to inflict upon CHI.

You can help our research!

We're not doing any current research at this time. Just enjoy the app.

Contact info

Members of the SmartShopper team include Dan Cosley, Jeremy Goecks, Nathan Good, Phong Pham, and Zvie Razieli. Phong and Nathan have moved on to bigger and better things. Jeremy's the idea guy now, Zvie is the UI advocate, and Dan is the coding grunt.

Mail about the SmartShopper application in general should go to smartshopgroup@hotmail.com.

Mail about research questions should probably go to Jeremy; coding or application help questions can go to Dan; questions about design or comedy should go to Zvie.
