Exercise #3

Geologic Time

  1. Draw a geologic cross section from Saganaga Lake to Pipestone, Minnesota.

  2. Draw a geologic cross section from Longitude 97 degrees W., Latitude 49 degrees N. to Longitude 92 degrees W., Latitude 43 degrees 45 minutes N.

  3. Draw a geologic cross section from Saganada Lake to Grand Marais, Minnesota. Label thegeologic units on all your cross sections, indicate faults and major unconformities.

    Base your cross sections on information from the field trips, Ojakangas and Matsch, and map of Bedrock Geology of Minnesota.

  4. Contsruct a geologic column with a geologic time scale for Minnesota based on your section in question #2.
