Bio

Born and raised in Cochran, Georgia, I attended Mercer University in Macon, GA for my undergraduate education where I received a B.S. in Computer Science, B.A.'s in Political Science and Spanish, and a minor in Mathematics. When school was in session, I was involved and held leadership roles in a number of organizations including the political science, Spanish, and computer science honor socities, the programming team, the Spanish Club, and the Hispanic and Latin American Student Union to name a few. I served for 3 years as a preceptor for the freshman English class, which doubled as a class that introduced students to the world outside of their sometimes small hometowns. Over the summers, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain, worked as an intern at Southwest Research Institute, and attended a Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Augsburg College. On making the transition to the University of Minnesota for graduate school, I had to make more than a few changes to my wardrobe...and my lifestyle. Although classes, teaching responsibilities, and research take up the bulk of my time, I've also become an avid skiing fan as well as a pretty decent fisherwoman.
