Biography

I grew up on a farm near the town of Swanton, Nebraska. I received my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 2001. While at the University I was a member of numerous campus organizations such as Acacia Fraternity and ACM. Shortly after graduation, I married my wife Astrid and we moved to Minneapolis where I attended the University of Minnesota for my Master's of Computer Science. I spent most of my time there working in the Center for Distributed Robotics on the Scout project. After finishing my Master's degree, my wife and I moved to Zürich, Switzerland where I am pursuing a doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). In my spare time I enjoy scuba diving, traveling, and building model ships.
