Collaborative Software Engineering Research
I worked with Prof. Dewan and Ph.D. students Vahid Mashayekhi and
Mike Stein on a wide range of collaborative applications. My group
investigated applications based on Prof. Dewan's collaboration infrastructure.
We focused on collaborative applications for software engineering.
We explored collaboration across the two dimensions of space and
time.
Overall we found that with proper support, collaboration was nearly
as effective in distributed environments as in same-time/same-place
environments. We also developed a general theory of interconnected
annotations of software documents.
In related research, we examined requirements for distance learning
environments, and how collaboration technology can support them
